Instagram can schedule posts and Reels by itself now, from the app, and Meta Business Suite adds stories and a desktop calendar. The steps and limits below are from Instagram's Help Center and Meta's Business Help Centre, checked October 22, 2026.
The short version: on a public account, start a post or Reel, tap More options, turn on Schedule this post (or Schedule this reel), pick a date and time, and tap Schedule. You can schedule up to 25 posts a day, up to 30 days ahead. For stories, or to plan from a computer, use Meta Business Suite.
How do I schedule a post or Reel in the Instagram app?
- Tap Create at the top left, or swipe right anywhere in Feed, then tap Post or Reel.
- Choose a photo or video and tap Next.
- Add a caption, effects or filters.
- Tap More options.
- Turn on Schedule this post or Schedule this reel and choose the date and time.
- Tap Done, then Back, then Schedule.
Photos, carousels and Reels can all be scheduled this way. The post keeps the privacy and audience settings it had when you scheduled it.
Why is the schedule option not showing on Instagram?
- Your account is private. Instagram's scheduling needs a public account.
- The post uses a feature that cannot be scheduled. Product tags, collaborative posts, sponsored posts and fundraisers do not work with scheduled content yet; remove them, or post that one live.
- You hit the daily cap. Instagram allows 25 scheduled posts a day.
- It is a story. The app's scheduler covers posts and Reels; schedule stories from Meta Business Suite instead.
How far in advance can you schedule Instagram posts?
Up to 30 days in the Instagram app. Live videos are scheduled separately, from the phone app only: Instagram's help lists 1 hour to 90 days ahead for those.
How do I see, edit or cancel scheduled Instagram posts?
Go to your profile, tap Menu at the top right and, under Your insights and tools, tap Scheduled content. Tap Options next to a post to delete it, edit it, reschedule it or share it now. The same list opens from the creation screen: start a new post or Reel and tap Scheduled.
How do I schedule Instagram stories?
In the Meta Business Suite phone app, tap Content, choose Stories at the top, tap Create, add your media, tap Next, then Schedule for later and pick the time. Posts and Reels work the same way there, and everything you schedule appears in the Planner. You need at least partial access to the Instagram profile in Business Suite to post (Meta's Business Suite app help).
Can I schedule Instagram posts from a computer?
Yes, in Meta Business Suite on desktop: click Create post or Create reel, choose your Instagram account under Post to (you can add your Facebook Page in the same step), and set the time under Scheduling options.
