What size is an Instagram post?
1080 pixels wide, and up to 1350 pixels tall (4:5) for the most room in the feed. Instagram keeps photos between 1.91:1 (1080 × 566) and 3:4 (1080 × 1440) at their full resolution when you post from the app, and crops anything outside that range. Images narrower than 320 pixels are enlarged and wider than 1080 are scaled down to 1080.
4:5 or 3:4: which portrait size should I use?
Use 3:4 (1080 × 1440) when you post from the Instagram app: it is the tallest photo Instagram keeps and matches the 3:4 tiles of the profile grid, so nothing is trimmed there. Use 4:5 (1080 × 1350) when a scheduling tool posts for you: Instagram's API, which every scheduler uses, accepts photos from 4:5 to 1.91:1 only, so a 3:4 image would be rejected or cropped.

What size are Instagram Stories and Reels?
1080 × 1920 pixels, a 9:16 ratio, which fills a phone screen. Keep text and logos away from the edges: in Stories the profile name sits at the top and the reply bar at the bottom, and in Reels the caption, audio and buttons cover the lower third and the right side.

What is the best size for an Instagram post?
1080 × 1350 pixels (4:5) works everywhere, including scheduling tools. If you post from the app, 1080 × 1440 (3:4) is a little taller and fills the profile grid tile exactly.
What size is an Instagram carousel?
The same as a single post, 1080 pixels wide from 1.91:1 to 4:5, and up to 20 photos or videos. Use one size for every slide so none of them is cropped.
Why does Instagram crop my photo?
Photos taller than 3:4 or wider than 1.91:1 are cropped to fit. On your profile grid every post is shown as a 3:4 tile, so square and landscape posts lose their sides there.
What file type should I upload?
A JPG. Instagram's API, which scheduling tools use, takes JPG only, up to 8 MB, in sRGB colour, and this tool downloads a JPG at the exact size.
Is my image uploaded anywhere?
