X's own scheduler lives in X Pro, the dashboard that used to be TweetDeck: write the post, click Schedule post, pick a time. If your account cannot open X Pro, or you post the same idea to other networks too, you need a scheduling tool that connects through X's API. This guide covers both, plus threads.
The short version: on X Pro, click the post button, write your post, choose Schedule post, set the date and time, and confirm. Add a Scheduled column to see and edit what is queued. For threads, posts on several networks, or posts your AI agent writes, use a tool that signs in through X and checks each post went live.
How to schedule a post on X (Twitter)
These are the steps from X's help page on X Pro:
- Sign in at pro.x.com and click the post button.
- Check that the account you want to post from is selected. X Pro can hold several accounts.
- Write the post and add images or a video if you need them.
- Click Schedule post and choose the date and time.
- Click Schedule post at [date/time] to confirm.
X Pro is not open to every account. If pro.x.com does not let you in, schedule through a tool instead.
How to check scheduled posts on X
In X Pro, add a Scheduled column. It lists every post waiting to go out, and you can edit them from there. If several people share an X Pro login at work, note that X says every scheduled post for the connected accounts is visible to anyone with access.
Can you schedule a thread on X?
X's help page describes scheduling single posts in X Pro. For a thread, a scheduling tool posts each part in order, each one replying to the one before, so the thread appears together at the time you chose. Write the whole thread first and check that every part fits: X counts 280 characters per post, and every link counts as 23 however long it is. Our free thread maker splits a long post into numbered parts that fit.
Scheduling X posts with a tool
Check three things before you connect one:
- It signs in on X's own page. No password typed into the tool, no browser extension.
- It handles threads and images. X takes up to 4 images per post.
- It confirms the post went out. A connection can expire; you want to hear about it before your audience notices a gap.
In Skryvo, as one example: connect X in Settings › Connected accounts, write the post or thread (or have it drafted in your brand's voice), and pick a time on the calendar. Skryvo publishes it on that quarter hour, then reads it back from X before marking it published. The same idea can go to LinkedIn, Bluesky and Mastodon as their own versions. X scheduling in Skryvo has the details.
Can ChatGPT or Claude schedule posts on X?
Yes, when they are connected to a scheduler. Ask Claude "Turn this changelog into an X thread and schedule it for 10am tomorrow"; it drafts the thread, shows it to you, and schedules it once you say yes. The X MCP page lists what an agent can do and how to connect one.
Is scheduling tweets free?
X Pro's scheduler is included for accounts that have X Pro. Most scheduling tools have a free tier with limits. Skryvo's free plan drafts posts; scheduling and auto-publishing start on Hobby at $15 a month, with 20 posts queued at once across all your channels.
Schedule the posts you already know you will write. Keep the replies and the conversation live; that part is still yours.
