Checked against each tool's own pricing page on November 7, 2026.
The best AI content generator depends on what you publish. For articles that need checked facts, and social posts published for you, we built Skryvo. For search-led articles, Frase. For ad and marketing copy, Anyword. For a marketing team with several brands, Jasper. For quick drafts, a general assistant such as ChatGPT or Claude. For images, Midjourney.
The short version: whichever tool you pick, check its facts. When we had AI write 20 blog posts and traced 186 checkable claims, 56.5% could not be traced to any source. Prices below were read from each tool's pricing page on November 7, 2026.

What is the best AI for content creation?
There is no single best one, because articles, ads, social posts and images reward different tools. Ask three questions. What do you publish most? Who checks the facts? Who posts it? A chatbot answers only the first. If you also want the checking and the posting handled, you need a tool built for the whole job, and you will pay more than a chatbot's price for it.
Best for checked articles and published posts: Skryvo
We make Skryvo, so weigh this one accordingly. It researches each article from real sources and checks its cited sentences against them: across 452 articles, most from our own and test accounts while we were still improving the system, 92.3% of 6,683 checked claims came back verified or likely true. Our fact-checking page shows how. It writes articles, social posts, emails, ads and product listings in your brand's voice, designs the pictures, and publishes to your channels after your go-ahead. Claude and other agents that read our live server can plan and write articles too. On ChatGPT the tools are social posts and pictures for now.
Hobby is $15 a month with 150 generations and 75 image credits; a researched article uses 2 generations. Pro is $49. The trade-offs: there is no free plan, it does not track your brand in AI answers, and it is a young product without many reviews yet. You can try the free AI article writer without signing up.
Best for search-led articles: Frase
Starter is $39 a month billed yearly ($49 otherwise) for 1 seat, 1 site, 10 articles and 50 audit pages a month. It scores content for search and AI visibility and publishes to WordPress, Webflow, Sanity or Wix. Pick it if ranking is the main reason you write. Professional is $103 billed yearly with 3 seats.
Best for ad and marketing copy: Anyword
Starter is $49 a month, or $39 billed yearly, for 1 seat with unlimited copy, 1 brand voice and 50 performance predictions. Its point of difference is predicting which line will perform, which matters most if you test ads and emails often. Data-Driven is $99 with 3 seats.
Best for marketing teams: Jasper
Pro is $69 a month or $59 billed yearly, and Business is custom. Its page sells brand voice, agents and AI search reports to marketing teams, so it suits a team that will use those every week. If you mostly write alone, see our Jasper alternatives.
Best for a small team on a budget: Copy.ai
The Chat plan is $29 a month for 5 seats, with unlimited words in chat and models from OpenAI, Anthropic and Google. That makes it a low-cost way to give a team shared AI chat. Above it, the page sells go-to-market workflows.
Best for drafts: ChatGPT and Claude
Both have free plans. Claude Pro is $20 a month or $17 billed yearly; ChatGPT's paid prices vary by country. In our test of seven chatbots, ChatGPT and Grok did best on short marketing copy, Claude was the one that asked for missing details instead of guessing, six of the seven added product features we never mentioned, and five broke Instagram's hashtag limit. They are strong drafters, but the checking is left to you.
Best cheap option: Rytr
The free plan gives 10,000 characters a month, and Lite is $9, or $7.50 billed yearly, for unlimited characters. Its plans now lean toward everyday communication, with connected sources and daily briefings. It suits short drafts rather than researched articles.
Best for images: Midjourney
Basic is $10 a month or $8 billed yearly, for about 200 image jobs a month. It makes the picture and leaves layout and sizing to you. If you want a picture in your brand's look, sized for each channel, Skryvo's image editor does that, and the free AI image generator needs no sign-up.
Is there a free AI content generator?
Yes. ChatGPT, Claude and Rytr have free plans, with limits. Skryvo's free tools need no account: an article writer, an email generator, post writers and a fact checker. Free is fine for trying a tool. Check its usage limits before you plan a month of content around it.
Is AI-generated content safe to publish?
Only after someone checks it. Our test of 186 AI claims found a recognisable pattern: a plausible number attached to a real, trusted source. Google rewards helpfulness rather than who wrote the words, as our look at AI and human writing explains, so a wrong number is the bigger risk. Follow this five-step fact-checking workflow before you publish.
How to choose an AI content generator
- Start from your most common piece. Choose for the article, post or ad you make every week, not the rare one.
- Give two tools the same real brief. Use a topic you know, so wrong facts stand out.
- Check three claims by hand and time it. A cheap tool that costs you an hour of checking is not cheap.
- Count the steps after writing. Pictures, sizes and scheduling are part of the job, whichever tool does them.
