Discord font generator

Type once and copy your text in 17 styles for your Discord display name, server nickname or About Me. For messages, use Discord's own formatting, shown below.

    Where do Discord fonts work?

In your display name and your server nicknames, which accept special characters and emoji up to 32 characters, and in your About Me. Not in your username: Discord limits usernames to lowercase letters a to z, numbers, the underscore and the period, 2 to 32 characters. A server nickname takes the place of your display name in the server where you set it, under User Settings › Profiles › Per-server Profiles.

How do I bold or italicise a Discord message?

Messages need no fancy font: Discord formats them itself. Type these marks around your words; a header or subtext mark goes at the start of a line, followed by a space.

    Type thisYou get
    **bold**Bold
    *italics* or _italics_Italics
    ***bold italics***Bold italics
    __underline__Underline
    ~~strikethrough~~Strikethrough
    __**underline bold**__Underline bold
    # Big headerHeader (## and ### are smaller)
    -# SubtextSmall subtext
    ||spoiler||Hidden until tapped

Should I use fonts or formatting in messages?

Formatting. Discord's formatting keeps your words as ordinary letters with style on top, so people can search for them and screen readers read them. A styled font replaces each letter with a symbol, which search may not match and screen readers may read letter by letter. Save the fonts for your name, where formatting does not work.

    Discord font generator: questions

Can I use fancy fonts in my Discord username?

No. Discord usernames take only lowercase letters a to z, numbers, the underscore and the period. Put the styled text in your display name or a server nickname instead.

How long can a Discord display name be?

From 1 to 32 characters. Some styles, such as underline and strikethrough, add a mark to each letter, so check the length in Discord before you save.

Are fancy fonts allowed in Discord names?

Discord says display names can include special characters, spaces and emoji. Like any name, they must follow its Community Guidelines, so a name may not impersonate Discord, its staff, a person or an organisation.

    Is my text sent anywhere?

No. It is converted in your browser.
